Prologue: The First Kiss of Darkness

The nightclub pulsed with life, its dark corners hiding secrets whispered only between shadows. Neon lights flickered above, casting an ethereal glow on the faces of the intoxicated crowd, their laughter mingling with the beats that echoed through the floor. Yet, amidst the chaotic energy, she felt out of place — as though she had stepped into a world far darker than anything she could comprehend.

Y/N stood at the edge of the room, her fingers lightly gripping the glass of champagne that had been handed to her the moment she entered. The fizz burned her throat as she tried to drown out the feeling of being watched. She had no reason to be there — no reason to stand in a place where the air was thick with the scent of smoke, desire, and danger. But curiosity had led her here, the allure of the unknown far too tempting to resist.

Her eyes scanned the room, searching for a reason to stay. She didn’t belong here, not in the world of high society mingling with criminals, all of them intoxicated by power and wealth. It wasn’t until she saw him that she realized how deep the abyss went.

Jungkook.

He was standing across the room, leaning against the bar, a quiet but commanding presence in a room full of noise. His dark hair fell in soft waves over his eyes, yet those eyes — piercing and cold — caught hers like a predator locking in on its prey. She felt her breath hitch, but she couldn’t look away. He was dangerous. There was no doubt about that. Every inch of him screamed danger, but it was the danger she couldn’t resist.

He smiled.

Not a smile of friendliness. No, it was something much darker — a promise of things to come. Things she wouldn’t be able to escape, no matter how hard she tried.

Before she could even think of moving, he was by her side, his presence suffocating, his breath warm against her ear.

“You’re in the wrong place,” he murmured, voice smooth like silk, yet tinged with a deadly undertone.

Y/N froze, the world around her slowing to a halt. She tried to swallow, but her mouth felt dry, her heart racing despite herself.

“I... I didn’t mean to—”

“You came here for something, didn’t you?” he interrupted, his voice a low whisper only for her to hear. “Tell me, what is it you’re searching for?”

For a moment, she couldn’t find her voice. There was something about him, something that made her skin prickle, that made every instinct in her scream to run. But still, she found herself speaking.

“I’m... not looking for anything.”

His gaze softened for just a fraction of a second, before it turned calculating. “Lies.”

His fingers brushed against her wrist, sending an electric shock through her, a jolt that coursed through her body as if the air itself had ignited. Her pulse quickened, and she fought the urge to pull away. She didn’t know what it was about him that made her feel so small, so vulnerable. But she did know one thing: she was already trapped.

He leaned closer, his lips grazing the shell of her ear, his voice barely a whisper. “This is where everything begins for you, Y/N. Welcome to my world.”

The weight of his words settled into her chest, heavy and suffocating. Before she could protest, his lips pressed softly against hers — a kiss that promised pain, power, and possession all at once. The world around them blurred, the music fading into the background, and for a moment, all that existed was him. His lips, his presence, his dangerous, irresistible magnetism.

When he pulled away, his eyes gleamed with satisfaction, as though he knew exactly what that kiss would do to her — how it would mark her, body and soul.

“You’re mine now,” he whispered. “And there’s no going back.”

She tried to breathe, tried to make sense of the chaos in her mind, but the words — his words — clung to her like a curse. She wanted to run, wanted to scream, but she couldn’t find the strength.

Because deep down, she realized something terrifying: part of her didn’t want to.
